Orphanage Updates

If you have further updates, orphanage locations, corrections to orphanage names, etc... please comment. We want the list to be as accurate and usable as possible.

Sheepfold of the Good Shepherd - All are okay. Some buildings collapsed. Sleeping in the yard. Received email from Fr. Luc.

Creche Notre Dame des Victoires - from a local Haitian Association ti'Moun, found Sister Marie-Véronique surrounded by all children, no one is hurt, the new building has suffered, the roof was collapsed, but it was lunchtime and the children were on the ground floor, it has brought out all the children and moved with them in the former premises

Greater Works Home for Girls (update) - all children and workers at Greater Works Home for Girls are safe! rue j roumain #26 delmas 33. A very large part of the building has collapsed but all got out! its a miracle of God. www.gwhghaiti.com

JBA/Cabaret School - "The JBA ministry compound, the Cabaret School, orphanage and church were mostly undamaged in the quake, except for a 250-foot section of the perimeter wall, according to Ron Rowe, JBA director of missions, and all of the workers and children at the compound have been accounted for. ""We are all doing OK. The children are fine," Pierre Prinvil, JBA's onsite coordinator, told David Garrett in an e-mail. Garrett is the association's director of church and community ministries. "We will need emergency funds and mission teams to help rebuild the wall," Prinvil wrote.""

Foyer de Sion (Petionville) (update) - This morning we spoke with Hans Mardy. He is with the Petionville children. They are OK and are at the LDS church in Petionville because the Petionville orphanage has been damaged and is not safe. We received a second confirmation from him that the children at Leogane are OK. The Fontamara children are with the Mardy's at the Fontamara building.

Foyer de Sion (Leogane) (update) - We received a second confirmation from Hans Mardy that the children at Leogane are OK. We just received word from Guesno that he is moving the Leogane children to Fontamara and to Petionville. He was moving children as Corrie spoke with him on the phone. So…all the children we be at two locations….Fontamara and Petionville. (Fri 1pm)

Foyer de Sion (Fontamara) (update) - The Fontamara children are with the Mardy's at the Fontamara building.

Creche Amour - adoptive parents have received a mail from Mr Luke informing that all goes well for the crèche and the orphanage - can anyone confirm if this is the same orphanage as Crèche Don D Amour in Petionville?

La Bergerie (Delmas 75) - initial news is that all children are well

Foyer de La Nouvelle Vie (Petionville) - children and staff are safe per email from Yva Samedy

Creche Bonheur des Enfants - children are safe

Creche Notre Dame de la Nativité - (update) The buildings collapsed. Children are still trapped under the rubble. The others sleep outside. Major damage was the nursery, children injured and more are stranded. Children died.

Crèche de l'enfant Jésus (CEJ) - Lots of damage and material losses but everyone is safe
(although very, very shaken emotionally). Children and staff are safe on the 2 nurseries.

Crèche Coeur de Marie (CDM) - All the children well, a baby injured. The building was preserved when the food is destroyed. (translated from French)

Maison des anges (MDA) - Texto a mom on the spot: the children well ... but no more info.

Sourire d'amour/Smile of Love (Petionville) - No damage especially relatively spared.

Don d'amour - The director and the children well, no info on staff the nursery.

Nid des enfants de Marie - a mail from the director and saying reassuring that only a wall fell and broke the windshield of the car. The wall has all but collapsed children and staff at the nursery are unharmed

Pouponnière Nid d'amour - the building was cracked and had to be evacuated, all personnel and children would be well and should leave the city within hours
